who has filed for the position. I have only known him a short time but have grown to know him quickly and I am impressed with the work he does in the community coaching businesses and their employees on how to solve a conflict, create stability, improve transparency and make the workplace a positive experience. I have had frank discussions with him about the state of our district and our youth (the most important piece of this discussion) and I am incredibly impressed with his insight and wisdom. He is a father, grandfather, and uncle who has a heart for the youth of our city. He has been volunteering his time to coach and mentor youth for years in Visalia and he is well loved. He is motivating and kind and always happy to discuss his views. He also listens and readily admits when he has a change of heart on a subject matter. HIs mindfulness is impressive and his transparency is a breath of fresh air. He understands the world of education as he has many wonderful and high-performing educators in his family. He understands, celebrates, and participates in VAPA. It is a love and a gift of his. He is reasonable and a good communicator. Paul and I do not always agree on issues, but more than a few times he has heard me out and explained his position in a way that I can definitely see his perspective. His positivity is contagious, and I think he is just the change we need to see for Area 2. Paul has what it takes to propel this district into new territory, Juan has had 4 terms. It is time for fresh ideas, a new voice, and new opportunities that come with someone who can really inject new life into the mission of VUSD, while working aside Mr. Shrum. Finally, I know Mr. Belt’s dedication to parental voices at the table. If I had to pick one campaign promise that I want to see upheld, it would be to bring parents back to the table and create a more welcoming family environment at VUSD. We once had that, a long, long time ago. We were better then. Our performance was better, our outcomes were better, our students were happier. It takes a village to support student success. And it is not a village without the family support students need. I am trusting Mr. Belt to bring that common sense strategy back to VUSD. I have no doubt his integrity, capability, and great ideas will be impressive to parents and educators interested in what is best for their students alike.<\/p>

Mr Belt has been serving this community for at least 40 years and has been committed to the improvement of this district behind the scenes for most\/all of that time. He has been around long enough to observe both the good and the bad this district and our community has had to offer and his heart for our future generations is unmatched. He knows what an investment in our youth can do for the improvement of our community and nation. He will bring great things to the VUSD Board!
